From Kerry-Anne Smith
Looking for a fun night out? Want to learn improvisation techniques for speaking off the cuff? Seeking inspiration for humorous speeches? We are privileged to have master of improvisation John Cremer running a workshop for us on Wednesday 2nd September 2009.
At this special event John will teach us impromptu techniques including: creating instant rapport with an audience, dealing with unexpected situations and building confidence. Be prepared for some great laughs and highly practical tools for public speaking.
In addition the award winning Maydays, an improvisation comedy troupe, will perform for us. You'll see the skills you've learned in the first half put into action. They'll use your suggestions as raw material - every moment, scene and song will be made up on the spot!
For Toastmasters it's perfect for the lead up to the Table Topics and Humorous Speech Contests. And... it will show us we can all come up with humorous presentations by just being ourselves - come along and bring your friends.
For non-Toastmasters this is a great opportunity to learn more about improvisation and how it can be used in everyday life. You'll also find out more about Toastmasters public speaking clubs. We offer regular practice and an encouraging environment for you to develop your communication and leadership skills. We look forward to seeing you on 2nd September.
