From David West, Excalibur Speakers and London Corinthians
Our correspondent David West phoned from Wexford, relaxing before dinner while looking over the bay. He passed on the big news...the results of the 2012 UK & Ireland International Speech contest:
First Place: Yvonne Jordan from Enniscorthy Toastmasters with a speech called "We don't need heroes" talking about being succesful in every day life. We heard Yvonne speak at the Windsor conference where she gave a beautifully written and performed speech. This year, with another great speech she moved from third to first place. Many congratulations to Yvonne.
Second Place: Jakub Pawlowski, Polish Your Polish with his speech entitled "Paying forward". Everyone who heard Jakub's speech in London predicted he would do well...and he did!
Third: Rita Brady with a speech about growing old with grace.
Congratulations to all the contestants for providing what sounds like an entertaining and thought provoking afternoon.
We look forward to hearing what happens in the UK & Ireland Evaluation Contest tomorrow morning.
