Thank you to the near 130 people who last night came along to the London Toastmasters Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contest Final.
A brilliant evening was had by all. I think the standard of speeches and table Topics were as high as I can remember at any of the contests that I have been to. All the contestants did themselves proud. But, as they say, there can be only one winner! And those were:
Table Topics: Andrew Klimaytys of Riverside Communicators
Humorous Speech: Jonathan Palmer of London Corinthians
The table topic was "Recycling - is it worth it?" which Andrew turned into a wonderful diatribe on how the companies our companies have a perpetual policy of recycling rubbish to the top of our organisations! The humorous speech was called Travel Hell, a hilarious look at the daily commute for the average Londoner.
Both Andrew and Jonathan will now be going forward to represent Division B (London) in the UK and Ireland finals to be held at the Toasties and Ghosties conference in Harrogate. Hopefully, we will get plenty of folks along from Division B to give them the support they deserve.
(If you know Andrew or Jonathan please get them in touch with me. It would be great to get them introduced to London before the conference! They can mail me straight from my link on the right of the site.)
A big thank you also to Jeremy Jacobs and Amy Jackson for the wonderful workshops that they gave before the contest. The room was literally standing room (if you could find a space) only. There must have been 60 or so people there receiving top pearls of wisdom on voice, nerves and body language.
Finally, a big thank you to Kim Horner and the team at London Corinthians for welcoming us so warmly. A more professional job you could not find. Thank you all.
Hopefully pics to follow...
