6pm on the 15th November 2007 - a time and date for your diary for sure. As the Area competitions slowly conclude (with mine being last and still to run - typical!) our attention now turns to the Division final. The winners of this contest will represent London at their respective competitions at the UK Toasties and Ghosties conference in Harrogate in November.
Personally, I have been totally blown away by the quality of speeches (and humour) I have seen in the competitions I have been to. I take my hat off to all that have entered.
However, yet again the bar is raised. This time it is the London finals. And the quality of Speaker promises to be scintillating. The speakers are:
Table Topics
Area 6 - Ian Millen of London Corinthians
Area 29 - Andrew Klimaytys of Riverside Communicators
Area 31 - David Thompson of Canary Wharf Communicators
Area 33 - David Lennon of London Communicators
Area 34 - tbc
Humorous Speech
Area 6 - Jonathan Palmer of London Corinthians
Area 29 - Rod Sloan of London Athenians
Area 31 - Joanne Chan of Canary Wharf Communicators
Area 33 - Jilly Shaul of Northern Lights
Area 34 - tbc
I have seen a number of these people speak before and know how good this evening will be.
Additionally, there will be 2 educational workshops hosted by London Corinthians prior to the contest. They are:
Take the Terror out of a Talk: How to control nerves and get the most out of your voice
by Jeremy Jacobs, Radio Presenter and Football Commentator
Let your Body Speak: The Psychology behind Gestures and Body Movement
by Amy Jackson, Qualified Psychologist and Communication Skills Trainer
I know both of these workshop presenters well. They are top notch people who can pass on a wealth of tips and knowledge to everyone from beginners to advanced speakers.
So, in short, if you can come along, I highly recommend it! The venue is at The Thistle Westminster, 49 Buckingham Palace Road, London SW1W 0QT. We hope to have something around 100 people there in total. The whole evening promises to be great. Please join us for the competition for sure and if you can get there in time, come for the workshops too.
