From Jakub Pieczonka, Area 47 Governor, Division L
Last week at London Communicators we held our annual President's Dinner and as Immediate Past President I was honoured to give the inaugural shield for the London Communicators Toastmaster of the Year award 2011-2012 to David Lennon (pictured on left).
David was given the award for his outstanding achievements and dedication to the club; for his enthusiasm, his continued striving to step out of his comfort zone, and his ability to get things done.
In the past year, David has negotiated on behalf of the club to lower our venue costs, made sure everyone in the club had a mentor after volunteering half-way through the year to fill the semi-vacant role, achieved his Advanced Communicator Silver, and been a continued source of unflagging enthusiasm and support. David has served as a model Toastmaster throughout the years, often taking on (without any prompting!) the role of Toastmaster, General Evaluator or Speaker just hours before the start of the meeting. When we had a last minute drop-out, David once prepared a speech during our ten minute break and won best speaker of the night, inspiring two other members who later went on to repeat his feat.
Thank you David, and congratulations from everyone at London Communicators.
