From Jakub Pawlowski, Division B Governor
1st July marks the beginning of the Toastmasters year. It's the time when people assume new leadership positions in their clubs. This is why we wanted to conduct the Club Officer Training as early as possible. We also had another big event looming on the horizon. We wanted to do it before the London Olympics so people wouldn't be robbed of the pleasure of watching the plethora of British successes.
Division B (having after realignment less than half of the clubs from the previous year) held 2 sessions during July at the Fitzrovia Community Centre and at Imperial College.
I'm really happy with these sessions because:
- I found out that my team of Area Governors is extremely effective and capable. "When the going gets tough, the tough get going!"
- I could meet a lot of club officers from Division B - COTs are such a great networking opportunity!
- a lot of people enjoyed the training
But to spare us falling in self-complacency we have a long list of things which we could improve so the second COT in February 2013 is even better!
I would like to thank to Michelle Cheung from Imperial College Speakers and Simon Cooper from Excalibur Speakers for offering us their venues.
