My journey with Toastmasters began five years ago when I attended a demonstration meeting for a corporate club. Since that moment it's been a snowball effect. I threw myself is an VPE from the very first meeting as well as taking on the role of Toastmaster. That experience has served me well at St Paul's Speakers which is my home club. I've been Club President, Area Governor and got involved with other projects including the conference at Windsor (led by Conference Director Iain Duthie) and undertaking the research and analysis for the reformation of the organisation of Toastmasters in London. And along the way I was Toastmaster of the year in 2011 - a great honour.
I am looking forward hugely to being the first Division L Governor with a great team. Picture at club officer training are George Jerjians (Area 56 Gov), myself, Aaron Wood (Area 34 Gov), and Jakub Pieczonka (Area 47 Gov). Donna Hicks (Area 33 Gov) unfortunately wasn't there that evening.
A a Division Council we'll be working with you to focus on "Back to Basics": membership growth and educational standards. We'd love to see new club in parts of London which currently don't have any, we're great supporters of the Youth Leadership Programme and hope to see many more club running these in schools.
It's going to be a full year and I'll be back to tell you more as we progress!
