Paul Carroll, a true Athenians legend, will be leading an unmissable Table Topics Master Class on 6 August 2013 from 7.15-8.15pm.  Paul is a former UK & Ireland Table Topics champ, with a technique and style that practically guarantees his impromptu talks are coherent, funny and inventive. Come and learn his secrets on the night.

As if you weren’t being spoiled enough, Paul’s workshop is followed on August 20 by another masterclass on humorous speaking. More info on this to follow shortly!

Interested in a new Advanced Manual Club? Please answer our short survey

As part of the District goal to have an advanced club in each division, Division K is delighted to announce the initial stages of their club : The Advanced Manual Club (The AMC).

The purpose of this club is to allow current clubs to help their members to progress through their manuals.

The aim is to be a supplementary club, one that can be joined in addition to your current club. However, you are welcome to join as your main club, too.

Members will gain:

1. Additional opportunities to speak: often regular clubs are often unable to grant longer speaking times to advanced speakers, because of their need to allow for many new members to speak. 
2. Opportunities to be evaluated by members who are also working on advanced manuals: with an evaluator who has attended evaluation training and can offer a stronger feedback
3. Not just for the CC track: The ACM will provide opportunities for those who are completing advanced leadership track as well. 
4. Opportunity for committee member training. Our committee has part time roles available to ease you into committee member world, prepping you for your home club or giving you a full role if you club committee was full.

On Monday 29 July 2013 the Junior Chamber,  London has a special event with Timothy "Tim" Campbell, MBE, best known as the winner of the first series of The Apprentice.

JCI London is calling all young professionals,entreprenurs and change makers in the City of London and beyond to support their charity fundraiser ‘ Business Q & A night with Tim Campbell’ for their Nothing But Nets project.

Experience French celebrates chartering in style!

On Monday 22 July 2013 Experience French celebrated their chartered club meeting with a full house!

After lots of hard work from their founding president Raphael Kopel and his committee our Toastmasters family has been enlarged with yet another club. This time a French speaking club which meets in the heart of London.

In attendance were Immediate Past Area Governor Donna Hicks, Greg Ros, District71 PRO and Freddie Daniells, Immediate Past District 71 Governor to mention but a few. The guest speaker was no less than William Dempster (a member of HOD Speakers in Stanmore), winner of the UK & Ireland International Speech contest 2013, delivering his winning speech before he heads off to the USA in August to compete in the semi-finals of the World Championship of Public Speaking!

Congratulations to Experience French for becoming a fully chartered club and for an excellent evening.

Successful launch for Clerkenwell Speakers

New London club Clerkenwell Speakers got off to a great start with our first meeting on Wednesday 17July 2013 at The Real Man Pizza Co.  The wonderful weather didn't keep the crowds away! The room was packed with newcomers and experienced toastmasters alike.  The club is already signing up new members who are keen to get going on their speaking journey - it was a pleasure to have two ice breaker speeches in the very first meeting.  

The new committee (pictured below with visiting dignitaries) are looking forward to welcoming new members to what is already promising to be a thriving club. Please come along to our next meeting on Wednesday 7 August at 6.30pm at The Real Man Pizza Co. 91 Clerkenwell Road, nearest tubes: Farringdon and Chancery Lane.

Greater London Toastmasters Educational Awards June 2013

Many congratulations to everyone who gained leadership and communication awards in June 2013. Sixty-four awards have been added to our total cross the three Divisions B, K and L. This gives us a total of 260 awards in 2012/13. If my calculations are correct that is a 12.7% increase in awards across the clubs that form our three new London Divisions. A significant achievement we can all be proud of!  We are also very proud to have added two Distinguished Toastmasters - particular congratulations go to June and Clive.

In addition these dates are different to both Division K and Division B therefore you will have a choice of 6 separate dates across London.
