From Helen Green, President ACCA members' breakfast club
The ACCA members’ breakfast club celebrated its 5th Anniversary on Wednesday 2 December 2014 in the evening at the ACCA HQ at Lincoln’s Inn, Holborn. The founding President Monica Liljeroth was joined by past President Chee Hoong Wong and the current President Helen Green and all three shared their experience of what it was like to be President of a Toastmaster club.

Past members came back to celebrate – one person started his own consultancy business after having gained that final professional skill – how to speak with impact. Another member moved from accountancy to training – Toastmasters gave him time and develop his public speaking skills and when he was ready to make the move he did so with confidence. Toastmasters has given many members confidence to develop their careers in ways they would not have anticipated before joining the club.
The meeting had a 10th speech delivered with passion by Mike Thompson and evaluated by Andy Pape who'd evaluated Mike's Icebreaker. As always,Toastmasters guests were invited to try a table topic speech - congratulation to Simon who won the guest best TT ribbon. Sylvia Griffiths, ACCA Member Networks Manager was also with as she was when the club started!
Thank you to our Division Governor Graeme Phillips,District Treasurer Stephen Edun ACCA for attending, and to Chris Bloomfield Area 47 Governor who won the best Topics Speaker. Dorothea Stuart, District PRO rounded up the evening with a short speech on developing the club’s influence now that it is an established club (yes we did linger over the wine and nibbles too long at the interval!). So Dorothea made sure we finished with Toastmaster timing – on target.
Thank you to everyone, particularly all our first time ACCA guests, who attended and made it such an enjoyable evening.
