Who won the London Area 52 contests and will competing again on Saturday?

Monday, 21 September 2015. Area 52 held its Humorous Speech Contest and Table Topics Contest at The Windsor Castle Pub in Victoria.

Competing were: Adam Micek (HSp) & Magda Czarnecka (TT) for Polish Your Polish; Daniela Ortner (HSp) & Paul Carroll (TT) for 104 London Debaters; David Peters (HSp) & Suzana Kalcic (TT) for Kings Speakers; and Divina Tumlos (HSp) & Jill Segal (TT) for Grosvenor Square Speakers.

Many thanks to of officials Graeme Bass and Shola Kaye for chairing the contests and to Marc Lotting our chief judge.

Fabulous Contests in Area 33

Area 33 held its humorous speech and table topics contests on Thursday 24September 2015in St Botolph Church Aldgate. This beautiful venue blessed with history and amazing acoustics provided the ultimate environment for speakers and orators to shine and shine they all did!

In the humorous speech contest chaired by Jung Keun Kim, four speakers regaled the audience with humorous tales of all kinds. Ranging from Helen’s inner battle as the clocked ticked during her 30 last days as a twenty something. To Stephen’s quest for his dream accountant friendly wife at the wheel of a Volvo. To Paul’s perilous adventure in Rio de Janeiro where British concepts of health and safety need not apply!  To find out about our winner's speech you'll have to come to the Division L contests on 17 October.

The table topics contest proved just as entertaining, with contestants replying in turn to the questions “If you could invent something what would it be and why?” David, Elaine, Monica and Leslie tackled the questions in very creative ways. Showing the blend of imagination and creativity that makes table topics so interesting!

Who won the West London Area 29 contests?

Last week Area 29 celebrated the best of their achievements so far this year with a well supported and fun evening at their Humorous Speech Contest and Table Topics Contest.

Huge thanks go to our Assistant Area Director, Russell Searle for taking the lead in organising the event and providing an enthusiastic warm-up.  Thanks too go to our Chairs, Michael Ciavola from Trojans Speakers and Al Johnson from Riverside Communicators who kept everything topical by using the World Cup Rugby theme throughout the post-contest Topics sessions.
