Many thanks to those, who came to support the Area 61 contests in Watford, it was a wonderful and entertaining afternoon.
In a knife-edge decision in the Humorous Speech Competition Gill Ornstein came second to worthy winner Alan McMahon. The other two competitors from the Area were Sarda Hirani and Ramesh Halai. Well done and heartiest congrats on a wonderful speech to Gill and well done to Alan, for his beautifully crafted and amusing speech. He will now represent Area 61 in the next round, at Division level.
In the Table Topics Contest Peter Jacques was the well deserved winner. On the subject title ‘The Best Things in Life are Free’, he entertained us with a story about free sample perfume and an anecdotal description of his visit to a perfume factory in France, brilliant improvisation and the real stuff of table topics. Pam Attfield came second and the other competitors were Alan Holdsworth and Indra Sikdar. The Topics speakers seem to have move too quickly to be captured in a photo. If we find one it will be added to this post!
Peter joins Alan and will represent Area 61 in the next round at Division L on Sat 17 October at London Business School. We hope to see you there.
