President Stella Meadows and her team planned a very special meeting for the club and Charter Members to receive their certificates on Thursday 10 December 2015.
The club actually chartered at the beginning of September, having had the very first meeting in January.
Kings Cross Speakers is the brain child of Stella and Area 34 Director, Jay Surti, who is also the club Sponsor.
The Chartering Ceremony was chaired by Toastmasters International Director (Region 11) Teresa Dukes, who made a special trip from Ipswich to celebrate with the new club. (Pictured Stella with Teresa).
On hand to support her were Barry Greenan, Division L Director and Jill Segal, Club Extension Chair. All four visiting dignitaries shared some words of congratulation and encouragement, and many of the founding members received their Charter Member certificates.
The meeting then proceeded at the high standard of participation we have come to expect, with an icebreaker speech (“Just Do It!”) by Naren Chauhan, cc3 by Kaori Murphy (“Amazing power of Kinesiology “), cc5 by Mel Knudsen (“Learn to Fly”) and CC7 speech (“Finding Jasper”) by David Marks, completing his second CC award.
The club’s eminent guests were put to work, with Teresa evaluating Naren’s speech, Jill evaluating David’s and Barry giving a masterful Table Topics performance.
Kings Cross speakers showcased its breadth of talent with members old and new taking key roles – Toastmaster, Gio Credali, Timekeeper, Serene Chan, Grammarian, Brian Skelton, Speech Evaluators, Jay Surti and Swarajit Das, Table Topics Master Ivelina Hristova, Table Topics Evaluator, Tia Castagno, Sergeant-at-Arms, Brian Hanley. General Evaluator was Sonia Araujo, VPE of London Cardinals.
