From Paul Lau VPPR, CASS Toastmasters
Cass Toastmasters is hosting a "How to master impromptu speaking (Table Topics)" workshop with David Jones (the 5 times UK&I Table Topics champion)
Having days or weeks to prepare a presentation can be nerve-racking enough. But do you feel panic-stricken if you are asked to speak in public at a moment’s notice with no preparation?
How often have you heard an unprepared speaker give a faltering or unconvincing impromptu speech?
Do you want to be better at thinking on your feet at work?
Do you want to deliver with confidence when speaking off-the-cuff in front of your peers?
Do you want to win Table Topics (impromptu speaking) contests at Toastmasters?
David Jones, the five times winner of the UK & Ireland Table Topics championship, will explain how to be a good impromptu public speaker*.
In this two-hour interactive workshop you will practise impromptu speaking.
The workshop will help you to overcome your fear of making impromptu speeches.
You will learn:
• how to respond to any question
• how to channel your inner creativity
• what will give you the edge over other Table Topics contestants
• why you should never use more than three bullet points.
David Jones writes and presents training courses for a wide range of clients including Research Councils UK, British Council, Institution of Civil Engineers, Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, and many universities. He has been in 12 Toastmasters’ District finals. He also performs and teaches stand-up comedy, and is a frequent after-dinner speaker.
*Please note: attending this workshop does not guarantee you will be the next Table Topics champion.
Members from other Toastmasters clubs are very welcome to attend.
Monday 29 February 2016 18.30, City of London.
