Our Area 6 International Speech Contest and Evaluation Contest evenig is being hosted by J P Morgan First Class Speakers at their spectacular Grand Hall. Area 29 International Speech and Evaluation Contests

DATE: 31 March 2016. 7pm for 7.30pm

LOCATION: The Hyde Road, York House, Richmond Road, Twickenham TW1 3AA

NEAREST STATION: Twickenham. Short bus ride from Richmond. Public car park next to York House.

COME AND JOIN US. There will be Contestants from London Athenians, Trojan Speakers, Riverside Communicators, The Toast Rack and West London Speakers.

The International Speech Contest will be chaired by Errol Williamson. Our contestants:  David Drewe, Jackie Pearce, Sui Chin McKeand-Han, Michael Macpherson, Chris Purcell

Interactive Table Topics Workshop with Paul Carroll at St Paul’s Speakers

St Paul’s Speakers announces a table topics workshop with Paul Carroll, past district table topics champion and President of 104 London Debaters.

The workshop is on Wednesday 30 March 2016.

Points covered by the workshop will include:

-Taking the fear out of table topics

-Table topics as impromptu conversation

-Paul’s top tips and advice for tackling questions

The workshop will be the entire meeting, allowing time for numerous questions and post table topic feedback. Speaking opportunities will be maximized in the two table-topics sessions included in this workshop.

Come and join us for what will be an educative and entertaining evening.

After the contests there will be an Area 34 Council Meeting at which the council members will vote for new Area 34 Director for 2016-17.

Area 61 contests -results!

Many thanks to those, who came to support the Area 61 contests in Watford on 19 March 2016, it was a wonderful and entertaining afternoon, with many friends and functionaries from outside Area 61 borders  coming to see what all the fuss was about.

They were rewarded with an excellent competition, with a very high standard across both the International Speech and the Evaluation competition. Six competitors in each contest, with Kavita Dulai prevailing over excellent speeches by David Phelops and Meenakshi Nayar.

All who placed in the speech competition had a musical element within their speeches. A special mention must go to David who proved what a magnificent tenor he is.

 

 

 

 

Our target speaker was the always wonderful Kevin Baggs whose multicoloured tie impressed us all but not as much as his speech “If I touched you would you talk to me” which gave us an insight into NLP. Meenakshi Nayar prevailed over stiff competition from all comers but especially Coralie Frances and Matthew Hall who placed second and third respectively.

We are now looking forward to the Division L Contests at the London Business School on 16 April 2016

Area 58 contests Wed 30 March - come along!

Area 58 will be holding its International Speech and Evaluation Contest on Wednesday 30 March 2016 from 18:30 onwards in St. Botolph Church, adress: Aldgate High St, London EC3N 1AB, near Aldgate tube station.

Come and support the best of the best from Area 58 clubs as they compete for the title of Area 58 International Speech champion and Area 58 Evaluation champion. After the competition Area council members will also vote for new Area Director!

No registration is necessary, please come along to support our contestants!

City of London Toastmasters (Area 58, Division K) club contest results

Congratulations to Christine Harris, Leigh Clark, Felicitas Weber, Leanne Wenham, Paul Rocks and Marcelo Prado for competing in the International Speech and Evaluation contest - City of London Toastmasters club level on Tuesday 15 March 2016. The contest chair was Rachel De Cesaro.

Well done to Ga Lok Chung for winning both contests and will be representing the club at the Area 58 contest on Weds 30 March 2016 at St Botolph Church without Aldgate EC3N 1AB.
