This is a great opportunity to enjoy the varied and excellent range of humorous speeches from the individual club winners. Not to mention the opportunity open to all members to help the Area L61 team present a very successful and enjoyable contest.

We are looking for volunteers for meeting roles i.e. judges, counters, photographer, SAA. Please volunteer for a role.

Debate: Is It Time To Go Cashless?

Many believe that paper money is out-dated not only because it's easy to lose (or steal) but because of the efficiency, convenience and transparency of digital payment systems.

Others are concerned that tech-giants and other--possibly sinister--institutions already have too much control of how and where we spend our money.

With the world rapidly using digital means to make and receive payments anyway, perhaps it's just a matter of time until cash-users naturally die off.

Should our society formalize it and get rid of old fashioned currency altogether? How would you put into words what you think about this issue?

Improv Workshop at Holborn Speakers

Holborn Speakers is offering a free improv workshop for anyone who would like to discover the art of play. Improv is a form of collaborative performance which is unplanned and created spontaneously by the performers. In this workshop you will participate in games which will help you to think quickly in the moment and to work with others to create funny or dramatic short scenes.

This is a great way to improve your speaking skills, especially in those unprepared situations! Improv skills also help to build listening, communication, creativity and presentation skills. 

The workshop will be run by Ellie Rudolph, a past president of Holborn Speakers, who has been using her Toastmasters skills to launch herself into the world of improv. She is now an improv addict and regularly attends workshops, jam sessions and improv festivals whenever she can.

This event is guaranteed to be fun, challenging and crazy, as well as incredibly useful.

Empowering Area K3 Club Officer Training - We're ready to go!

What a Fantastic and Empowering Club Officer Training (COT) at Area K3 on Wednesday evening, 11th July 2018. We had 28 club committee officers joining us to get ready for their new role at EY MLP (Home of MLP London Bridge Speakers).

A lot of topics were covered in the educational training. In the beginning, Paul Wash (DTM) gave us important points about how to achieve good meeting quality. Then Jason Thompson gave us a lively lesson about GDPR. Area K3 Director Liang T Li shared about experiences about how to be a Distinguished club & the Club Success Plan. Area K58 Director Vijaya talked about the club officer roles and responsibilities.

We then had Mark Wiltshire, Pathway Guide, who helped us to explore Pathway Base Camp. District Evaluation Champion Ga Lok Chung gave us useful tips about General Evaluation.

A quick Q&A session concluded the evening which the participants all enjoyed.  They now know more TMs from different areas. The Club Officers are ready to go!

-In our occasional humorous debates our speakers are challenged to stretch their creativity. Presentation coach Jennifer Theriot reminds us that you can always spice up your topic with humor. The "duller" the topic, the more effective humor can be, because of the surprise element. 
-Jokes can come in the form of witty metaphors, humorous similes, puns, sarcasm or a funny story. With a little creativity, any topic can be interesting—and even meaningful or funny.
