Many students believe the concept of "safe spaces" fosters inclusion, increases sensitivity and sets up parameters in which difficult conversations can occur and marginalized voices can be heard, according to The Washington Post. But critics argue that creating safe spaces serves only to stifle free speech, coddle students and ignore both history and the reality found off campus.
